October 8: Go: Want Fruit? Grow Roots!

In an age where fewer and fewer people know even the basics of Christianity, the mission of the Church is urgent. No wonder Jesus spoke with urgency as he gave his followers their mission before his return to heaven. This message explores the outward-focused mission God has given to Christians today.

October 1: Give: Want Fruit? Grow Roots!

Jesus knew one of the most powerful ways to transform your life was to give. He also knew it would be one of the hardest. Yet when we give our time and money to others, trusting that God will provide all that we need, our hearts soon follow, finding joy in sharing God’s love.

October 2:  Every Member Is A Missionary
    Notes / Podcast / Video

Unfortunately the 21st century Christianity has an image problem in the eyes of unchurched people. Sadly, this impacts the opportunities we have in our community to carry out our mission to reach people that aren’t being reached. So what can we do as a church to change this perception? What if we were a church where every member invests, invites, evangelizes and serves unchurched/non-Christian people in Jesus’ name. Why? Because our community, coworkers, neighbors, teammates and friends all have a soul that will spend eternity somewhere. You might be the person God uses to draw them with love and then share the message of God’s love.

September 25:  Every Home Is A Sanctuary
    Notes / Podcast / Video

What if we were a church where every family was stronger - where the home was a place of love not disfunction? Would it make for a stronger church family? Why is this so vital for us as a church? Because home is where the heart is (shaped). While we love church, most spiritual growth happens at home when we meditate on God’s Word. This is where marriages are made and children come to know the most about God. We want a church where every home is filled with the Word, prayer, worship and casual conversations about God.

September 18:  Every Group Is A Community
    Notes / Podcast / Video

Being a Christian is more than a Sunday thing…because we are family. In order to grow as a family we need to grow in our faith and do life together. At St. Peter & The CORE this happens when we participate in Group Bible study and Life Groups. As a part of these groups members love one another, confess to one another, forgive one another, pray for one another, bear one another’s burdens, etc. Why? Because no one can be the kind of Christian God wants them to be by themselves. We need others to grow as God calls us to grow…and they need us too.

September 11:  Every Sunday Is An Opportunity
    Notes / Podcast / Video

Every church service is an opportunity for clear teaching, moving music, memorable visuals and a “you first” guest culture. Why? Because every Sunday people are coming to church for the first time in a long time! In order to make the most of our opportunities as 1 church on 2 campuses to love them, inspire them and introduce them to our amazing God, what might we do to “win” souls for Jesus? Why? Because every soul matters to Jesus!

October 4:  Us vs. Them  Notes / Podcast

We tend to focus on our church, our ministry, our budget, and sadly ignore the greater body of Christ.  But “Truth In Love Ministry” isn’t doing that and, in supporting "Truth in Love Ministry", we are trying to avoid that selfish tug, too.  We need to remember that God longs for us to be a blessing beyond our church walls both in our community and beyond Appleton with our time, prayers, and offerings.

May 17:  The Missionary God Made Me To Be  Notes / Podcast

Look at the 12 men who changed the history of the world. They were mostly uneducated peasants. Some had pasts. Some suggest they weren’t much more than older teenage boys! They ran with the wrong circles and had the wrong personalities. Yet, God used them in profound ways. Thankfully, all it takes to bring someone to faith is the Holy Spirit and he lives in you!

May 10:  Invest & Invite  Notes / Podcast

Jesus told his friends that the world would praise God because of their love and their light. I’ve found that to be true. One of the most important things you can do is invest in others. Be the best neighbor your neighbors have ever had. Remember their names. Pray for them. Show unconditional love. Once people know you care, they care about what you know.

May 3:  The Good Thing About God  Notes / Podcast

When God opens doors, we want to know what to say. I love Bill Hybels’ simples explanation of Christianity in under 2 minutes. The world tells us it’s about do/don’t (law), but Jesus is all about done (gospel). Give people a simple way to explain their faith and build confidence as evangelists.

    Me, A Missionary (Series Summary)

    • May 3:  The Good Thing About God
    • May 10:  Invest & Invite
    • May 17:  The Missionary God Made Me To Be

Me, a Missionary! Most Christians would finish that statement with a question mark. We believe we aren’t the right “type” to be missionaries for Jesus. We get scared. We don’t like talking to strangers. Knocking on doors and answering tough questions from skeptics is terrifying to us. It seems best to let others do that kind of work for the church. This series is meant to redefine what it means to be a missionary for Jesus so that the entire church sees itself as part of God’s plan to reach the lost.

    • October 5: Mission Partner

In January 2014, St. Peter and The CORE launched their new website - 922church.com.  Since that time many people - both guests and members - have asked the much expected Lutheran question, “What does this mean?”   After directing people to the “About” section on the website’s home page, they will find that the website is based on 1 Corinthians 9:22.  Since this new name has generated so much curiosity, we figured this year’s Mission/Vision series would be on what it means to be a “922church”.  As we dig into 1 Corinthians 9:19-27 in this series, we will see just what that means and the implications this has on our vision and mission as one church on two campuses.  We will see over the course of this series that this entire section of Scripture is an amazing summary on putting the lost first, the incredible calling we have to "save" people, Paul's push for excellence in ministry, and the stunning blessings of the gospel that we get to experience even as we work and push and sacrifice.
