    Married Rebecca Weeks in 1993; blessed with five children:  Harrison (21), a junior at WLC; Grant (19), a sophomore at WLC; Grace (17) attending FVL as a senior this year; Jackson (14), 8th grade; Lincoln (12), 6th grade

     

    Before St. Peter

    Jim owned and operated a successful business, Designer Decks and Spas, from 1991-1996.  In 1996, he was assigned to Zion Lutheran Church in Mission, SD, located on the Rosebud Indian Reservation.  He served there two and a half years.  In January 1998, he accepted a call to serve as Navajo Mission Explorer in Farmington, NM, under the WELS Board for Home Missions.

    In September 2003, Jim was called to be an associate pastor at Christ the Rock Lutheran Church (CTR).   CTR and the Navajo Exploratory joined forces to become one ministry. 

    Education

    Spent his educational years in the WELS system; Luther Prep, Northwestern College and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.  He spent one year of college at Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) in Milwaukee, WI, studying business.

5 ways to describe him

  • Could find a silver-lining in anything, even a devastating world epidemic.  (God forbid that would happen, but if it did, he’d say, “It’ll be all right.”  And in Christ, it would be!)
  • He’s always serious, except when he’s at home, at work, other places, or taking it easy.
  • He’s an includer.  He can’t stand seeing anyone on the outside looking in.
  • Is always in his office, at least, his door is always open and his lights are always on.
  • Loves communicating the Scriptures to precious souls and seeing lives changed by it.
      

Other places that you might find him

Visiting family in Cincinnati, Ohio or in Houston, Texas.  Going for a run (5k or less.  Let’s be realistic.) or teaming up with his wife trying resistance training and mobility at the YMCA.  Annoying his kids while they’re on their screens.

Married in 1999, he and his wife, Lori, have 4 children. Isabel, Luther, Zoe, and Aaron.

Before St. Peter

Used to be Mormon.  Was baptized into the Christian faith at 6 years of age with his brothers. His father and mother converted shortly after at the ages of 37 and 36.  Served as a vicar under Pastor Mark Cares at Messiah, in Nampa, Idaho (2002/2003).  Served as the sole pastor of Faith, Excelsior MN (2004-2016). Youth and Family Chairman for Minnesota District (2010-2016).  One of three creators for the WELS Transformed youth initiative (2016).  Authored the book and accompanying resources, Rainbow Savior, and has done extensive work with those wrestling with SSA.

 Drove a zamboni during his Seminary years.  Spent 1 year as a vicar (pastoral intern) in Arcadia, WI.  Served as an associate pastor at Eastside Lutheran Church (2007-2014).  Has worked at The CORE since the summer of 2014.

The golf course, working out in the yard, walking the family dog (Oliver) eating outside (since it’s one of Rhonda’s favorite things to do). I’m also a fan of the Packers and Badgers (football and basketball).

Married to Rhonda (Forbeck) since 1983, proud father of Melanie (living in Pennsylvania with her husband, Joel Neujahr); and Zack (graduate of UW-Stout and married to Christi).

26 years in the paper industry, a few years of temp and part time work, and most recently 5 years as a supervisor in the printing industry; as a member since 1982, has served on church council, board of education, and was council president during the building project
