What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is gift certificates from national and local retailers like Kwik Trip, Piggly Wiggly, Kohl’s, etc. These retailers agree to sell the certificates to St. Peter School at a discount. St. Peter members buy the certificates for full face value, redeem them for full face value, and St. Peter keeps the difference as revenue. 60% of that revenue is returned to school families as a credit on the next year’s tuition statement. 40% of the revenue is kept by St. Peter to pay for the expenses of the program and/or directed toward the St. Peter Tuition Fund and the St. Peter/Core Building Fund.
What percentage of the certificates’ face value is returned to St. Peter as revenue?
Percentages range from 2-13%.
How will St. Peter’s portion (40%) of the returned revenue be used?
First, expenses will be paid (e.g. $7.75 weekly shipping charges, supplies, etc.).
Surplus money will be used for the St. Peter Tuition Fund and the St. Peter/Core Building Fund.
