January 27: A Fresh Start For Your Emotional Life

Few things shape us like what we think about our thoughts. Our thoughts might be true or false, healthy or destructive, demonic or Holy Spiritual, which means we need to think carefully about our thoughts! Paul made the same point to his friends in Corinth, urging them to take their thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ. By that same practice, we put our frantic minds at ease and fix our thoughts on Jesus.

January 20: A Fresh Start For Your Financial Life

Money is a good gift and a terrible god. When accumulating more and more becomes the center of our universe, we end up, according to Jesus, with darkness, worry, and eventual loss. But when we seek God first, satisfying our hearts with the presence ad promises of God, money finds it rightful place in our lives. Our loving Father can become our true treasure, freeing us from serving money and allowing us to use it wisely.

January 13: A Fresh Start For Your Physical Life

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.” Billions of Christians have confessed these famous words, admitting that God is the creator and we are part of his creation. Yet many Christians forget this truth when it comes to their own bodies, ignoring the Creator’s guidelines as they overwork, overeat, and underestimate the necessity of rest. This message takes us back to the beginning, to physical life as God intended, and reminds us of the Father who gave us life and wants only what is best for his kids. In addition, it reminds us of the “image of God” that we have through Jesus, a spiritual reality that gives even our bodies peace and rest.

January 6: A Fresh Start For Your Spiritual Life

Most people don’t equate repentance with the words “fresh” or “liberating.” Crying “God, have mercy on me, a sinner!” seems like a miserable way to start the year. But not according to Jesus. Jesus said that those who humbly confess their need of God’s grace (instead of self-righteously comparing themselves to others) would be justified and exalted in the eyes of God. Perhaps, then, repentance is the most liberating way to live!

    January 29:  I (Heart) God
    Notes / Podcast / Video

In the Bible, the heart is the source of everything that we do. We think with the heart, feel with the heart, decide with the heart, and love with the heart. Often, however, Christians pick and choose from the heart’s purposes, which leads to a dry, intellectual, dead form of Christianity or to an emotional, unstable, foundation-less version of the faith. In this message, God wants to protect us from the dangers of going through the motions and/or just relying on emotions. Instead, he wants to move our hearts with his message.

    10 Tips To Sanctuary Success

“Though it costs all you have, get knowledge,” the proverb urges. It’s worth more than silver or gold. This year has potential to see a great increase in our knowledge about God. But it won’t be easy. The pursuit of frivolous things tempts to make us too busy to stop and think and learn. This message is about the importance of knowing God through his Word and cultivating a strong spiritual habit in 2017.

January 15:  Honor God With Your Body
    Notes / Podcast / Video

“Call upon me in the day of trouble.” If you didn’t know the words, you might assume that was the latest marketing pitch for chocolate chip ice cream or a bottle of Moscato. Food has a subtle way of trying to replacing God in our lives. The obesity epidemic in America is not primarily an issue of weight, but of worship. This sermon explores the spiritual dynamic of food and puts God back in his rightful place, on the throne of our heart in our (hopefully) healthier temple.

    Notes / Podcast / Video
